I also want to say here that date night is not self-care. It is again spending time with another person. But self-care is, in my opinion, spending time alone with yourself.
self-care in motherhood is not about escaping reality. It is not about a “once per month” activity. And it is not a selfish act.
I return to work after one and a half years of training myself intensively to live an intentional life. A life with purpose. A life without remorse and guilts for being simultaneously a mother and woman with needs and wants.
I came across an eye-opener phrase, so elementary in its nature but with tremendous gravitas:work-life balance is an obsolete concept. It simply does not exist. Stop trying to reach this goal.
Running the 10k was hard work and didn’t come easily to me that day. Nevertheless, it was a good personal comeback and very promising. Stepping out of my comfort zone and testing the waters was rewarding. I felt proud to commit to my goal and stay true to my initial decision
