I hear people encouraging us to break out of the comfort zone and jump straight into the jungle that’s called life. That is scary! I like my safe place, but I am happy and ready to move beyond so I can grow.
Criticism is concealed with crooked smiles, comme il faut comments, hollow politeness and passive-aggressiveness.
“Live every day like it is your last day” is probably a piece of irresponsible advice and a foolish thing to do. It puts so much pressure on us.
Why do we really expect others to act according to our will? To read our minds? Let us keep our expectations to ourselves for us to grow.
The day starts with stress, continues with more, and finishes with a new wave of anxiety for the next day. So much pressure is put on us by our partners, children, relatives, friends, employers, colleagues, social media, unrealistic societal standards and expectations and the FOMO -fear of missing out.
Nevertheless, it is never late to acknowledge the need for and practice the skill of slowing down. Anyway, we will never achieve to solve the equation of time over tasks.
When a child yells “I’m bored”, they might as well be hungry, curious about their parents’ doings or seeking attention. Let the children be bored! You cannot imagine how valuable and necessary boredom is. Offer your child free time to do nothing and applaud their boredom.
I highly value my alone time. Indeed, I am great friends with myself and enjoy my company. It is a relationship that has been building over the years and has now reached the point where I intentionally set aside time for me, myself and I. What do I do during these one-to-one dates?
